I have seen that foster teens need just as much help as younger kids in the dependency system. Being a teenager myself, I understand how some of the most simple and basic things can be the best gifts.

Being a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for foster teens in group homes has been a rewarding and challenging experience. These kids are in difficult situations, and anything we can do to brighten their day a little is worth the effort.

We are not a fancy organization. We buy brand new, nice cotton hoodies (and hopefully ones made of sustainable material in the future when we can afford that). We take them to group homes, the Department of Children and Family Services, and other organizations in Los Angeles that provide housing and other services to foster teens.

We are hoping to buy nicer hoodies if we raise enough money, which cost about $45 on average. Not cheap, but they are staples that these teens would love to have brand new.
